Frog Prince

Author:  Barry De Kuyper

The Prince was a 60″ model kitted in the late forties to early fifties as a free flight tow line launch glider .I decided to re live my child hood and build one.

The span was 60″ tissue covered construction as were most models of that era.Stringers were used in a lot of area’s where today we would use sheet.

Wings are covering is Super Coverite and a light spray of enamel to give a tissue effect. The span was increase to 2 metre’s and beefed up to fly with radio and winch launched.

The original wing section was something like a Gottinger 497. I replaced this with an Eppler 205.The tail plane was huge and was reduced by 20%, the rudder was doubled in size.

The fuzz is planked , tissue covered , sealed with One Shot spray putty and painted.

Flying first time off the winch was excellent only minor trimchange.

The plan is from Airbourne?magazine.

For those who don’t know it Frog stands for “Fly Right Of Ground”.
